Sing with Beyond

Beyond Choir welcomes singers of exceptional musicianship who are passionate about choral artistry. We have two distinct groups of artists who help bring our music to life:

Resident Vocalists – Our season-long roster of professional singers who perform in all mainstage concerts and projects.
Ensemble Vocalists – Skilled singers who join us for select projects throughout the year, adding depth and variety to our sound.

If you are interested in joining Beyond Choir, you may audition to be considered for either category based on your experience, availability, and the needs of each project.

How to Join Beyond Choir

Beyond Choir welcomes dedicated vocal artists into two levels of membership, based on the level of commitment you’re able to make:

Resident Singers
Resident Singers commit to participating in every mainstage concert throughout the season. This high level of commitment reflects their role as the artistic foundation of Beyond Choir. Resident Singers are chosen through a competitive annual audition process, ensuring the highest quality and consistency in our performances.

Ensemble Singers
Ensemble Singers enjoy a more flexible, project-based commitment. This group forms a broad network of over 200 singers who may join selected projects that fit their schedules. Ensemble singers apply to participate in specific concerts, and our artistic team selects participants to create a balanced and cohesive sound.

Getting Started
All singers, whether interested in Ensemble or Resident opportunities, must first create an online profile and submit the registration form. If you meet the qualifications, you’ll be admitted as an Ensemble Singer. From there, you may also choose to audition for Resident Singer status if you wish to commit at a higher level.

Onboarding
Every new singer completes a short, self-paced onboarding course (15–20 minutes). This training introduces you to our mission, values, and online systems, and gives you access to important member resources like our music library and project application portal.

Join our Ensemble

Resident Singers

Singers selected for the annual Resident Singer cohort through a competitive audition process receive a percentage of the season’s profits. While Beyond is not currently intended to be a major source of income, this is one meaningful way we aim to honor the time, training, and professionalism you bring to the ensemble.

Resident singers commit to full participation in the season, with the flexibility to miss one project if needed. This may include missing a rehearsal or performance within a project to fulfill existing professional obligations, such as church choir services or concerts. We understand the nature of your schedules and want to support your broader musical lives.

We are currently accepting auditions for Resident Vocalists (paid core) roster in all vocal sections for the 2025–2026 season.

We seek accomplished choral artists who demonstrate strong vocal technique, ensemble experience, confident sight-reading skills, and a deep sense of musical expression. There is no fee to audition for Beyond. The Resident Singer experience is typically for professional musicians; non-vocal degree singers are considered, and selection is based on vocal ability, professionalism, and support of Beyond's mission.

Applications are accepted year-round, but for primary consideration, please submit by August 1, 2025

Ensemble Singers

Ensemble singers are skilled members who would like to participate in as many projects as their schedule will allow, without a minimum number of projects required. Our ensemble is designed for singers who lead active professional lives, and we certainly understand that participating in every project is not possible for many.

If you hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in music with a primary concentration in voice, no audition is needed. Simply use the contact form to let us know you want to be invited. You may be asked to join in a brief discussion to help us better understand your vocal background.

Beyond is an ensemble primarily for professional musicians. However, if you do not hold a degree in music but would like to audition for the ensemble, please fill out the form below, and create a video audition. Please send the audition video directly to: brandon.johnson@beyondchoir.org

Non-vocal degree audition should include

Two short, contrasting vocal excerpts demonstrating your best vocal tone. The total time of the two excerpts should be between 2 and 4 minutes. I want to hear your best color and timbre.
One octave scale up and down as quickly as possible. The goal is to demonstrate the flexibility and agility of your instrument.
In the body of the email, please describe your singing background, including ability to learn pitches and rhythms independently, private lessons, ensemble experiences & language fluency.
