Our Story
Beyond, a professional vocal ensemble based in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is a collective of Michigan choral and vocal musicians collaborating and inspiring one another at each opportunity. Conducted by Brandon Johnson, Beyond seeks artistry at the highest level, inspiring audiences and its members in equal measure.
Founded in 2021, Beyond brings together exceptional soloists, conductors, composers, and music educators, united by the belief in the inspiration of artistic excellence.
Regular collaborations with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Andrea Bocelli, Beyond is committed to inspiring performances, recording projects, and fun and meaningful community engagement.

Built for Connection
Beyond Choir is designed to connect—artists to artists, and performers to audiences. Our project-based model brings together a diverse network of singers to create dynamic performances that reflect a wide range of musical traditions.
For each project, singers from our network apply to participate, allowing us to thoughtfully shape each ensemble based on the repertoire and artistic vision. Rehearsals are intentionally condensed into a focused schedule, creating an environment of energy, precision, and shared purpose. The result is a high-level performance experience where no two concert rosters are ever exactly the same.
Through frequent collaborations with schools and community ensembles, we extend that connection beyond the stage and into the communities we serve—creating performances that are as meaningful as they are memorable.
