About the Program
The Beyond Christmas Youth Honor Choir unites talented middle and high school singers from across southeast Michigan for a one-day immersive choral experience celebrating the spirit of the season.
Held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, participants will spend the day rehearsing under the direction of Mr. Blake Rosser, learning beautiful holiday repertoire, and connecting with fellow young musicians who share a passion for singing.
The day culminates in a collaborative performance with Beyond Choir at the Beyond Christmas concert that evening at 7:30 PM, offering students the thrill of performing alongside professional singers in a major community concert event. 2 tickets to the performance are included with the student registration.
Participation is $95 per student, which includes all instruction, materials, and a commemorative certificate of participation. Space is limited, and registration is open to students in grades 6–12 who love to sing and want to experience the excitement of a professional choral performance.

Who can participate?
The Youth Honor Choir is open to students in grades 6–12 from any school, homeschool, or community choir program in Michigan. Singers should enjoy choral singing and be ready for a fun, focused day of music-making. Students must be able to read sheet music.
When and where is the event?
The workshop and performance will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Eastern Michigan University’s Pease Auditorium in Ypsilanti. Some of the sectional rehearsals may also take place in the EMU Honors College, which is located across the street from the performance venue.
Workshop: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Concert: 7:30 PM (Beyond Christmas with Beyond Choir)
What does the $95 participation fee include?
The registration fee covers:
All rehearsals and instruction with Beyond Choir’s professional music staff
Workshop materials and music
Snack and light dinner
Commemorative certificate of participation
Performance in the Beyond Christmas concert
One reserved student seat in the choir
Two guest tickets for the final performance
What should students bring?
Students should bring:
A reusable water bottle
Two pencils
A black folder or binder (if preferred for music)
Comfortable attire for rehearsal
Concert black attire for the evening performance (details provided in the registration packet)
Do participants need to audition?
No formal audition is required. However, singers should be comfortable following musical direction and performing in a large ensemble setting. Students should be able to read sheet music.
When will music be distributed?
Physical sheet music will be distributed at the workshop on December 20.
Selections will be announced via email on December 5th, allowing students to preview the repertoire in advance. Some selections may include digital sheet music or audio recordings available for early review to help participants feel confident and prepared before the event. Links will be provided to registered students if available.
