Marie Gatien

Michigan native, mezzo soprano Marie Gatien has sung with choirs across the globe, including performances in England, Italy, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Ms. Gatien's choral collaborations have included performances with the Detroit Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, National Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony. During her time as soprano section coach for the Grammy Award-winning UMS Choral Union, the ensemble received The American Prize in Choral Performance (community division) for its 2017 performance of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, featuring Sir Jeremy Irons. Previously, Ms. Gatien worked as Artistic Coordinator for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where she collaborated with artists such as Maestra Marin Alsop, Renée Fleming, and André de Shields.


Currently, Ms. Gatien resides in Frederick, Maryland, where she cantors for three local churches and teaches private voice lessons. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from The College of Wooster, where she studied under Dr. Lisa Wong, Director of Choruses for the Cleveland Orchestra.
